The Era of Social Networking

Social Networking has become very common for Internet users during the past few years, but it can still be complex for someone who is new to the Internet or social networking.

Social networking can be defined in one sentence “A group of people having same interests”. When you start social networking, you are new to everyone however, very soon you start communicating people and begin associating with those that have similar interests.

Getting started with social networking is much the same as joining a new college. At first, you don’t know anybody. But once you start meeting students, the very next moment you have your own group of people with similar interests.

Social Networking Architecture

Social networking is based on a structure that allows people to share their opinions and meet people with similar interest.  Every social networking site includes profiles, friends, groups, posts, widges, and generally something special to that particular social networking website such as option to ‘poke’ people on Facebook or high-five someone Hi5.

Profile. This is where you talk about yourself. It includes personal details such as, which country/place do you belong and how old you are, and personality questions, like who's your idol person and what's your favorite movie. Social networks based on a special theme like sports or movies might ask questions related to that theme too.

Friends. Friends are trusted members of the site that are authorized to post/leave comments on your profile, watch your own content and send/receive you private messages.

Groups. Most of the social networking websites use groups that makes easier for you to find people with similar interests or engage in discussions on certain topics.

Discussions. A primary goal of a group is to create interaction between users in the form of discussions. Most of the websites have discussion boards for the groups, and many also allow you to post photos, music, video clips, and other things related to the group.

Blogs. One more interesting feature of some social networks is the ability to create your own blog entries. Blogging through a social network is a good way to show your knowledge to world.

The Benefits of Social Networking

Social Networking is a best form of entertainment, great place of meeting people with similar interests from all over the world and can be very effective from business point of view. Social networks allow you to reach out to others that have the same interests in no time.

For instance, if you like movies, you can have opinions from your friends about a new movie. If you like reading books a group can help you find new book which is been recently written by your favorite writer.

What is the Age to Start Social Networking?

Social Networking can be started at any age however; experts recommend that to use social networking in a correct manner, you must be above 13 years old. There are plenty of social networks that you can join such as Facebook, Orkut etc.
