Text Messaging with Facebook



Facebook is trying to develop new applications and features day-by-day. No doubt, it has many features that we are still not aware. I am going to share one more awesome feature of Facebook which allows you to send unlimited AdFree text messages or SMS to anyone around the world and guess what, it’s free.

You can forward unlimited messages to your friends’ phones using your Facebook account. In order to use this feature, sender and receiver have to verify mobile account on Facebook. Let’s see how to do that.

Steps to be followed in order to verify a mobile for your Facebook:

•    Go to http://www.facebook.com/mobile/?settings
•    Click on Register for Facebook Text Messages.
•    Select your country and your mobile carrier. Click Next.
•    You will be asked to send an SMS with letter “F” to a given number. Do it!
•    You will receive an SMS with a confirmation code. Enter the confirmation code in the input area.
•    Now your Facebook account is mobile verified!

Steps to be followed to send free SMS:

•    Click on the message icon on the top bar of Facebook.
•    Click on Send new message.
•    Now type the name of your friend who your want to send text message to mobile phone, and type your message. As shown below, you will find a small cellphone icon. Tick the checkbox near this icon. And click send. That’s all! Your message has been sent.

Note: You will find the checkbox for sending text message, only if your friend has a mobile verified Facebook account.

Why Don’t You Get Links from Relevant Websites


Link building is an important aspect of SEO. You must have read my article “Article Submission- A Great Way to Earn Incoming Links” in which I have mentioned that how you can easily get incoming links via using article submission method.

Today, I would like to discuss about link building with relevant websites. Let’s start with a common issue that is generally faced by people, who are not aware of link building or doing in a wrong way.  The concern is getting links from non relevant websites that are worthless. 

At first, I would like to clear one thing that is “what’s relevant and what isn’t relevant in terms of link building”. After this, you can easily determine that which of the links are good for your website and which aren’t.

It is very important to understand this fact that search engines rank pages not the entire website as the rest of the website might not be similar or relevant to your site. Getting links from a relevant page or website is very important as it will increase your page rank in search engines. Now, you can easily make a difference between getting incoming links from a relevant & non relevant site. 

Let me just quickly elaborate, what is non-relevant when it comes to link building. Two of the biggest factors that could make a link worthless are:

  • Building links from sites that are totally different from your website. For instance, a computer website getting links from a page about kitchen appliances, I get a link from a page about kitchen appliances. Having a link that says about computer from that kitchen appliances page is absolutely not relevant and isn’t going to work as compared with getting a link from another computer or laptop based website.
  • Putting links on a website that is filled by other useless links for example, linking your website with a page that has links about clothes, medicine, etc. if those links surround your link that talks about computer, you are not going to get attention from your target audience.
 
Finally, let’s talk about how to do effective link building?

  • Relevancy is one of the main factors that you have to consider if you are building links for your website. Analyze the entire site from which you want to acquire incoming links for your website. Is the site similar to your website? What is the page rank of that site? How old is the website? Does the site have many users?  These things must be consider while link building. Remember good links tend to help you easily rank better as it let the search engines know that you are in the same category with the website. 
  • Deep linking is a process of linking to internal pages of your site using desired keywords, it’s not a good practice to put all your link building efforts to your landing page only but also to other pages on your site.  Try to get at least of 10-15 links to every page of your website and within a short period of time the internal pages of your website will begin to rank for various long tail keywords.
  • Consistency also plays a vital role in link building, it wouldn’t be good for your site to build 50 links on a day and then reduce it to 5 on other day or vice-versa.  Try to maintain the consistency make sure all your links are of the same number each day and if you want to increase the number of links make sure it is a gradual process.

Black Hat SEO is usually known a combination of immoral techniques used to improve your website rank in search engines’ rankings in a short time.  Keyword stuffing, invisible text, Doorway Pages, Cloaking etc. are the main examples of Black Hat SEO.

Cloaking:  A misleading act of presenting varying content to search engine spiders and searchers with the idea of deceiving search engines into indexing content that is not visible to humans.

Search Engine is an information retrieval system that allows users to locate the information on the World Wide Web. World Wide Web is seen as a formless database that contains information. Search Engine makes this easier by managing, filtering and retrieving the appropriate information that exactly what a user needs.

The user enters a keyword or phrase into a search engine, search engine software quickly sorts through literally millions of pages in World Wide Web to find matches to a specific query and finally search engine’s results are displayed in order of relevancy. Search Engines are based on these six components, Spider, Crawler, Indexer, Database, Result Engine and Web Server.
